Sue Henderson

Dr Sue Henderson is a civil/geotechnical engineer with more than thirty five years’ experience in consulting and research. She has been involved in the mining industry since 1988, mainly on surface geomechanics including: dam & levee regulation, inspection and design; spoil and waste characterisation; tailings dams and co-disposal areas; and rehabilitation and final voids.

Sue has been a key researcher on several ACARP projects covering tailings dam decommissioning, capping of coarse rejects, rehabilitation of dispersive spoil, spoil covers, final void rehabilitation; and stakeholder assessment of rehabilitation.

Her current pressing areas of interest are the geomechanics of co-disposal areas and transitioning mine earthworks into post-mining landscapes.

Sue has served on sub-committees negotiating with the government on dam conditions, water conditions, and rehabilitation & closure.
