Certified design & construction certification for waste co-disposal area expansion, 2014-2015

Design of stabilisation works for existing CDA walls and design of new CDA to 30m high abutting the existing facility, Coppabella Coal Mine.

Ongoing involvement including construction certification for starter walls of new storage cells, quarterly inspections and ad hoc advice.

Stability assessment for final voids, 2013 & 2015

Emergency action plans for CHPP waste co-disposal storage facilities, 2018-current  DaA pit wall stability study considering the effects of long-term erosion and weathering of the pit wall and the effects of significant hydrological events” as required by the environmental authority for Burton Mine.

Work involved stability analyses based on potential changes in wall strength and void water level over time.

ACARP Project C9030 “Guidelines for Decommissioning Coal Tailings Dams in the Bowen Basin and Hunter Valley, 2000-2003

Industry funded research project to develop technically defensible procedures for the design of coal tailings dam decommissioning plans.

The work included management of field sampling and laboratory testing programs, finite element modelling of tailings-capping interactions, collation of existing tailings data, and synthesis of a design process and key rehabilitation strategies.

Assessment of non-engineered flood protection structures, 2019

Options study for future tailings and rejects disposal, 2004
Co-ordination of storage evaluation, waste scheduling and disposal costing to compare waste management options and recommend a strategy based on risks and costs, German Creek Mine.Seepage and stability analyses for existing flood protection levees at Isaac Plains Mine. The levees had not been constructed to accepted civil engineering standards; however, inclusion of abutting spoil dumps and short flood durations in the analyses, justified certification of the levees as regulated structures.
